Pisces 17. Getting on his hands and knees, a man uses a piece of white chalk to draw a circle around himself. (Omega Symbol) Manifesting/Sensitive
(Degree Angel: Harahel (HA-ra-HEL) Umbilical Cord, Intellectual Richness)
TITLE: ENVELOPING ONESELF IN THE NURTURING AND PROTECTIVE FORCES OF THE UNIVERSE
This degree has an intuitive sense of how to protect itself and how to filter out influences that might be disturbing or disruptive to it. It is always able to find a space in which to work, and has a special gift for clearing the atmosphere so that room is made to do whatever needs to be accomplished. And if it follows its impulses, the result will always be magic working through it.
The Chandra Symbol for this degree is “A kangaroo and her baby who looks out from the mother’s pouch.” When a baby kangaroo is born it immediately crawls into the pouch, which is like a second womb, and which contains a nipple that it immediately affixes itself to. And so for kangaroos birth is a slow, gradual process that happens in states. It is the opposite of a creature like the horse, who falls out of the womb and within minutes is standing up. The image signifies that this degree at its highest experiences the universe as a great mother who eternally offers safety and protection. It may feel isolated and different from others, but with usually no sense of alienation. It knows that we are all children who are being raised and taken care of by a reality that is utterly intent on our reaching enlightenment.
Pleiadian Symbol: People dressed in a vivid array of colors come together to celebrate spring. The open embracing of diversity and difference and the unique qualities that each person has stimulates new growth and a fresh entering into life.
Azoth Symbol: Someone helping a distraught woman to open to angelic love. Frustration and sadness as a stimulus to finding higher and more enduring fulfillment.
Seed degree: Libra 24.Gemstones buried in the ground in the pattern of the constellation Orion. (Omega Symbol). The deep inner wisdom that has been with us through all our incarnations will, if allowed to, show us how to take action to protect and support ourselves in this life.
A chameleon with moving pictures appearing on its back. (Chandra Symbol). Being willing to relate to life in all possible ways and allowing ourselves to completely interact with everything and everyone we encounter, we grow into the ability to see the world as our mother, and ourselves as the mother of our world
Fulfillment degree: Aquarius 29. An old poetess eating green melon in a shady garden. (Omega Symbol). Inscribing ourselves in a circle of protection we are then free to be our true self, live our deepest wisdom, and partake of the beauty of nature.
The sound of dripping water echoes through a great stone room. (Chandra Symbol). Experiencing intimate union with the divine mother we spontaneously become acutely sensitized to the depths of all emotions – both our own and others.
Oracle
At his death Serapis bequeathed to me a stick of chalk — or so I thought it was. I found that the chalk would only draw circles. Any attempt to use the chalk to draw anything else yield to line from it whatsoever. I found then when I drew a circle around myself I was protected in ways that I did not expect. For instance, once I was lost deep in the woods during a blizzard and could not find my way. I pulled the chalk out of my sack, and drawing a circle around myself found that I was in a circle of warm spring forest, in which I slept all night in comfort. In the morning I found I could walk and this circle would follow me, opening up green and blooming plants in a circle around me, by means of which I found berries to assuage my hunger.
Experimenting with the chalk I also found that once I had drawn a circle around me, if I reached down and smudged it the whole circle would disappear, freeing me, but that no one on the outside of this circle could disturb it whatsoever.
Not wanting to use up this precious chalk I was sparing in the use of it, until I eventually realized that no amount of circle drawing diminished it at all.
Searching the diaries and journals of Serapis I finally found several references to it, and learned that it had through some secret process been fashioned of starlight, which, being difficult to condense in such a form had taken three generations of alchemists to complete.
It is also interesting that no matter how uneven my circle drawing was, the circle always came out perfect, seeming to right my wavering as I inscribed the circle.
I also found that when I drew this circle around others and they dwelt in it for a time they experienced a growing sense of peace and clarity. When the denizens of Aab learned of this many came to me for healing and succor, which I was most happy to impart to them through the chalk’s power.
Over time this piece of chalk is the implement that came to be known as “The white Wand of Serapis.”
