22. A man avoiding moonlight. (Omega Symbol) Interacting/Sensitive
(Degree Angel: YEIALEL (YAY-a-LEL) Letting Go, Mental Force)
TITLE: THE ENDURING INTENT TO PROTECT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT AND HENCE TO DEFEND ONE’S OWN VULNERABILITY.
This degree knows the profound value of keeping a goal in sight, and of maintaining objectivity without repressing or denying one’s feelings. The emotions are respected and allowed be what they are, but can be overcome, ignored or put aside if they become obstructions to what one is trying to accomplish. If one can let go of any and all fears of what the subconscious holds, then the greatest powers of this degree can be accessed.
There is the possibility here though, of repressing or avoiding feelings and insecurities that must eventually be acknowledged and resolved.
The Chandra Symbol for this degree is “An ancient glass vial perfectly preserved.” This vial is protected from time and the elements. To avoid moonlight, as the man doers in the Omega Symbol, is to avoid vulnerability, but to do this not through becoming hard and resistent but through creating a protective aura around oneself within which one may maintain sensitivity and delicacy.
To be protected the vial must have been buried in the ground or in some other way hidden, or valued and handled with care by generations of people. However this protection has occurred, what has come down to us is something beyond current fashions and attitudes, and without modification – meaning without compromise. This degree signifies ways of being that transcend what is passing, and a timeless sensitivity that when shared with others, can reawaken their sensitivity.
Pleiadian Symbol: Butterflies and dragonflies around a fountain splashing in sunlight. A light and delicate expression of a rich, exuberant emotionality. A gloriously weightless enthusiasm, which mirrors the delicacy and fragility of the Chandra Symbol.
Azoth Symbol: The discovery of old letters which contain a solution to a long-unsolved mystery. The old letters avoided for awhile being found, just as the man of the Omega Symbol avoids moonlight. But they are finally discovered when the time is right, just as the man avoiding moonlight will, in his own time, come to terms with it. There is a reason for his avoidance, which he needs to respect.
Seed degree: Sagittarius 19. An old abandoned garden, everything under a blanket of ivy. (Omega Symbol). When we allow life to take its course without our intervention we are made more aware of our own emotional needs and are more careful and conscious in the handling of them.
A monstrous sea creature dead, washed up on the beach. (Chandra Symbol). To perceive what secretly lies in our own depths inspires us to preserve and protect those parts of ourselves which are beautiful and valuable.
Fulfillment degree: Capricorn 17. A man stretching slowly and carefully in many different directions. (Omega Symbol). A heightened awareness of our emotional self allows us to see where are stresses are to find ways of alleviating them.
A gold ring baked into a cake. (Chandra Symbol). Honoring and protecting our sensitivity leads us to fortuitous and felicitous discoveries.
Oracle
At night he always stayed inside, in his hut with no windows, and always burned candles. Even so, he could feel, on clear nights, the moonlight bathing his roof and walls, the feeling of it rising inside him and flooding into his eyes, making them cold, so that he had to stare into a candle to warm them.
If only, he thought, he could turn into a shadow, then he might go out into the night and enjoy it, his shadow self absorbing and digesting the moonlight, his blind shadow eyes safe from it. Yes, that’s it, he thought, I must become the night, for then I can contain the moon inside me rather than be engulfed by it.
