Scorpio 24. Gold turning back into lead. (Omega Symbol) Interacting/Responsible
(Degree Angel: CALIEL (KA-lee-EL) Fertility, Justice)
TITLE: THE INTUITIVE KNOWING THAT WE ALREADY HAVE AT HAND WHAT WE NEED
This degree realizes that life is an ongoing process of constant change, and so any goal is never an end in itself. What is important is what we do with what we have, how we use it, and not the mere act of obtaining it. That which is desired and acquired is eventually lost or rendered worthless unless it is recycled in the service of evolution.
Gold is the metal of the Sun, and lead is the metal of Saturn, so this degree is about Sun energy (purpose) turning into Saturn energy (limitation and focus), or the need for purpose to restrict itself within practical and definite boundaries.
The Chandra Symbol for this degree is “Coca bushes growing wild in the Andes Mountains.” The coca bush yields substances which, if ingested help one to sustain oneself physically at high altitudes, signifying that this degree knows how to maintain energy at a high level, and how to survive and thrive as it goes to even higher levels.
In the Omega Symbol the lead that has been transmuted into gold cannot sustain the vibrational level of gold – it obviously has not been stabilized at that level – and so it drops back down into the vibration of lead. The point is, when we make changes, we cannot live in that changed state until we can bring enough of ourselves into it to be in it more than in the old state. That’s where chewing the coca leaves come in – to help us attune to a new atmosphere and a new way of being.
In traditional alchemy when there was a failure all the old texts tell the alchemist to go back and do it again – to keep trying, because as you get better and better at making any transformation, eventually the change will steady itself and hold to the new way. This is a very persistent degree, a degree of hope, and of knowing that whatever it takes is exactly what it’s going to expend to move forward.
Pleiadian Symbol: Visitors to the cave of a holy man. When we contact those of greater wisdom than ourselves we are inspired and uplifted by that wisdom — it can plant a seed in us. The finding of eternal truth deep within the self.
Azoth Symbol: Healers returning to a place where they may recharge their energy. Contact with a source of rejuvenation empowers us to continue our work in a new, refreshed, more vital manner.
Seed degree: Capricorn 14. A woman restoring an ancient textile. (Omega Symbol). Through healing the fabric of our lives we become aware that importance ultimately does not exist in just one part of it, but in the whole of it, and the way it relates to the whole of the universe, and ultimately, in the process of the whole.
Beads carved from human bone. (Chandra Symbol). In touching the lives of all who came before us we can find sustenance to continue our own journey into higher territory.
Fulfillment degree: Virgo 20. Worshipers circumambulating a sacred stone. (Omega Symbol). When we realize that every step of every process is an integral part of the whole, we come to honor the physical for the great opportunities it provides us for understanding and growth.
The expanse of the Himalayas in the distance. (Chandra Symbol). Finding what we need close at hand, we learn to use it for our own support, which helps to keep us focused on higher spiritual realities.
Oracle
In the Museum of Peth there is displayed a ring fashioned of a most rare and peculiar metal. Its ore was mined in the Eluthar region, famous for its opals. It was there, among the densest lode of opal deposits ever discovered that tiny gold nuggets were found also, of a strange, faintly shimmering color which was thought to have been caused by millenia of exposure to the opals.
When the alchemist Kanir Rendar fashioned a ring out of these gold nuggets it was found to attain to a state of pure gold at every New Moon, and by two weeks later during the Full Moon to have turned to pure lead.
For many years it was worn by Princess Zarabar of Dandria, the famous eccentric, who used its magic to delight and surprise her companions, for by every New Moon the ring caused her to appear as a beautiful young girl, and then by the time the Moon had become full she had turned into a wizened old crone.
