In both this and the Omega Symbol there is something to be observed that is distant, but not so far away that it can’t be observed. In the Omega Symbol the tsunami is dynamic and immanent (yang), whereas in this symbol the island is static and ongoing (yin). In the Omega Symbol the tsunami is coming to us, whereas here, if we want to see what is on the island we must go to it. In both symbols there is a connecting of two different worlds, or planes of existence: in the image of the tsunami, the connection is intrusive and forced – it pushes on through; in the image of the island it’s an inviting potential. Either way, the point is change. If it threatens to overwhelm us, we need to take the high road to the mountain so that we will be safe and see the overall meaning and significance of it. If we choose to go to the island of the Omega Symbol, we need to be sensitive to the right timing of our adventure—and it’s probably best to pack a lunch. These images both suggest the importance of perspective—choosing where to stand and how to move in relation to the unknown.
