To lose one’s individuality by merging with a group can make you feel safe and connected. It’s the magic of knowing oneself as being part of a greater whole. It’s true that we are all one, and to feel and know this heals the illusion of alienation. You connect with others at a deep, primal level—a level at which we’re all the same. And if connecting at this level is used to transmit feelings of love, support and caring, it fulfills the magical power of this degree.

At worst, though, you may seek this level of oneness and anonymity because you wish to avoid the scary feeling of being separate—perhaps finding the aloneness of individuality terrifying. If this is your motive, true safety and security will remain elusive until you grow beyond your addiction to anonymity and embrace your separateness and uniqueness, while knowing that your connection to the whole can never be lost.

The leaf of the Omega Symbol, too, is part of a large group of leaves, all of which will die. As it falls, it is caught for a moment in the spider’s web and held in suspension, its individuality briefly visible and open to contemplation before it completes its descent and disintegrates.

In essence, death might be experienced as the loneliest of activities—and yet, if one’s consciousness is ready for it, it is the most beatific and complete way of connecting to the universe.

As usual in all the signs, the 29th degree is most unstable, most unpredictable, and most creative. This is a threshold degree—where identity flickers between dissolution and reinvention, and the soul learns to embrace both.
